Build and regenerate for the well-being of future generations

Tassullo adheres to sustainability protocols—
, LEED, BREEAM, WELL, and ARCA

Sustainability and Green Building

It is essential that building for future generations involves concrete actions to promote environmental and social sustainability. We produce certified NHL 5 Natural Hydraulic Lime, and the entire production cycle for our products takes place within a radius of just 8 km, in a lush green valley in the Trentino region. We devote the utmost care and attention to every process, from mining operations at our own mineral sites to processing, and through continuous investment, we have introduced innovative processing and transformation systems that enable us to operate in accordance with the principles of environmental regeneration and energy conservation.

The selection of materials and the optimization of processing and transformation have enabled us to achieve significant milestones in terms of Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) and to obtain prestigious environmental certifications, such as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Biosafe emissivity certificates. Our products, as sustainable building materials, contribute to the credit systems and requirements established by the most important national and international green building rating systems— LEED, BREEAM, WELL, and ARCA.

Sustainability information for Tassullo products—including certifications, environmental mapping, and specific characteristics—can be downloaded along with the technical documentation for each product.

Our aggregate is 100% recycled

The purest dolomite aggregate, extracted directly from our mine and used in Tassullo premixes, is classified as a by-product of internal origin in accordance with UNI Pdr 88:2020 and complies with the Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM). These criteria represent Italy’s specific implementation of the European GPP (Green Public Procurement) guidelines.

Sustainability Protocols

LEED, BREEAM, WELL, and ARCA are building certification systems that enable buildings to be designed and constructed in accordance with criteria related to sustainability, health, energy efficiency, and comfort. Tassullo products have been mapped and align with the categories required for earning credits, as listed in the relevant contribution matrices.

COMMISSIONING

We are committed to ensuring transparent communication and providing as much information as possible throughout the supply chain, in order to ensure that our materials are applied correctly, resulting in high-quality projects. Training courses, application checklists, detailed technical data sheets, and packaging that includes all relevant product information are just some of the measures we have adopted to achieve this goal.

COMPATIBLE FORMULATIONS

We pay the utmost attention to the sustainability and healthiness of our products, prioritizing formulations that are environmentally friendly and safe for indoor health. Our sustainable building materials undergo regular testing to verify the levels of heavy metals, orthophthalates, halogenated flame retardants (HFRs), and all substances of very high concern (SVHCs) as defined by the European Union’s REACH regulation. The company’s Dhomo research project has enabled the products to be certified as low-emitting, in accordance with the Biosafe protocol.

EPD

Environmental Product Declaration

Tassullo premixed formulas are covered by an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration). This document, which is prepared on a voluntary basis, provides an analytical and comparable declaration of resource consumption and environmental impact across the various phases of our products’ life cycle.

Our EPDs are prepared by Kiwa - Ecobility Experts based on the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) developed by the University of Trento.

PRODUCT LIFECYCLE

An analysis of the end phases of the product life cycle, in addition to the production phases, makes it possible to quantify the amount of CO2 reabsorbed by the environment.

PRODUCT LIFECYCLE

Analysis of the end phases of the product life cycle, in addition to production phases, allows the weight of CO2 reabsorbed by the environment to be quantified.

Indoor Air Quality

We have developed and tested a range of products designed to enhance comfort in the home. Thanks to our selection of extremely pure raw materials, our mortars, screeds, plasters, skim coats, finishes, and adhesives have all achieved the highest certification level regarding emissions of harmful VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), in accordance with Biosafe Environmental Health Certification.

Circular economy: from the mining of dolomite to the regeneration of quarry spaces

From Dolomite Mining to Urban Regeneration: The TERA Mining Ecosystem

Tassullo is at the heart of a unique regeneration project. This process begins with the extraction of natural inert materials for construction and culminates in a concrete example of the circular economy. Each piece of rock is transformed into aggregate, ready for use in construction and restoration. The spaces created by the extraction process offer ideal conditions for storing various types of goods, thanks to the site’s unique characteristics: a constant temperature of around 12 degrees Celsius and the complete absence of water infiltration.

100% certified renewable electricity

Our production facilities are powered by certified renewable electricity.
A 49 kWp photovoltaic system has also been installed on our premises, enabling us to produce 59.5 MWh of electricity annually, thereby preventing the emission of 15.2 metric tons of CO₂.
The project was co-financed by European Funds through the Autonomous Province of Trento.
